‘Engineering Tomorrow’: Students experiment with wind, 3-D printing

November 28, 2018

THROGS NECK -

Some Throgs Neck students got some hands-on engineering experience Wednesday, taking part in two experiments with professionals from General Electric.

The first experiment dealt with wind energy, using different materials to build a propeller. It was then tested in a wind tunnel to measure the amount of power generated.

Students then experimented with 3-D printing, using software to design a puzzle piece.

The day’s events were part of the Engineering Tomorrow program, with the primary goal of getting students interested in the field.
