Bronx HS Academy of Mt. St Ursula explores genetics and medical technology with engineering experts
On November 20, students from The Academy of Mt. St. Ursula, an all-girls high school in New York State, explored the fields of genetics and bioinformatics alongside more than 5,000 students across the country over Zoom.
During the virtual portion of the lab, students had the chance to participate in a Q&A with Dr. Viktoriia Kyrychenko, a Senior Scientist at CRISPR Therapeutics specializing in cell and molecular biology. Additionally, Gerry Dawes, Staff Engineer at Engineering Tomorrow and a former director at Con Edison Company of New York, joined students in the classroom to walk them through the lab, which included using the powerful genetic data tool UniProt.
