Lab day event

Sound & Acoustics

Mitigating Noise Pollution

March 19, 2025|10am–1pm EST
what you will learn

In this lab, students are introduced to the basics of sound, where they will learn about vibrations, frequency, pitch, and real world examples of how these affect our ears.

The students will then conduct a lab experiment, trying to reduce the noise pollution of a certain sound.

Meet our keynote speaker
Ola Jegede

Olaseinde Jegede is an experienced Aerospace Engineer with a varied history of working in both Aerodynamics and Spacecraft systems design.

He holds a BEng in Aerospace Engineering and a PhD in Supersonic Aerodynamics both from the University of Manchester and has since worked at the Japanese Aerospace Agency (JAXA) and Mercedes-Benz AMG Formula 1 Team. His time in Japan consisted of planetary re-entry vehicle design, rocket launches, and language learning.

He is now an Aerodynamicist at the Mercedes F1 team and works to design the race car in order to travel as fast as possible and win races.

what is a lab day?

Lab Days are live, virtual field trips.

Virtual field trip event

3 hours live, available later on demand

Event type

No-cost, hands-on live-streamed event

Your students will come together virtually with other classes all over the country to learn about a specific topic in engineering and complete their own related projects.
Participate live for the event — or attend as much as you can and watch the rest on demand.
