what you will learn

Students will learn about the importance of bridges in connecting communities across the globe and investigate the impact of different materials and designs.

They will explore stress and strain fundamentals and then have the opportunity to design, build, and test different bridges to maximize the load.

Meet our keynote speaker
Avery Bang

Avery joined the Mulago Foundation in 2022 as a Senior Principal. She joined the team to span the fellows and portfolio teams.

She built her social entrepreneur chops as CEO of Bridges to Prosperity. During her tenure, the organization connected over 1.4M people while working with governments in 20 countries. She was selected as a 2019 Rainer Fellow.

She worked in a small private equity office focused on acquisitions in renewable energy, construction, and manufacturing industries. She has experience in the private sector ($2B+), B-Corps, academic and nonprofit boards.

Avery received an MBA from the University of Oxford, and a MSc. from the University of Colorado. She earned a BA in Studio Art and a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa, while playing soccer.
