Engineering Tomorrow Partners with Medgar Evers College and Marcus Garvey Education Academy

November 6, 2025

On November 6, Engineering Tomorrow led over 175 students from six Brooklyn high schools through a renewable energy-focused education and career-building event, in partnership with Medgar Evers College (CUNY) and Marcus Garvey Education Academy.

During the event, students learned about the benefits of renewable energy sources and how today’s engineers work to lower the cost and increase the efficiency of renewable energy.

Students were especially excited to build their own solar-powered and wind-powered turbine prototypes. This exercise helped them practice skills that career engineers use every day, including maximizing impact while staying within time and material budgets, teamwork, and creativity. After the lab, students joined thousands of their peers across the country for the Zoom portion of the event, led by Northwestern professor Dr. Ludmilla Aristilde, which included an interactive Q&A about her background and career path.

Thank you to Brooklyn Technical High School, Brooklyn Collegiate: A College Board School, Eagle Academy for Young Men II in Brooklyn, George Washington High School for the Sciences, James Madison High School, and Medgar Evers College Preparatory School for participating!
