Renewable Energy Lab Day: Engineering Tomorrow and DNV Visit Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School

February 28, 2025

On February 24, career engineer Joanna Caudle and college mentors from Engineering Tomorrow, along with DNV, a leader in developing standards for design, construction, and operation in a variety of sectors, joined students at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School (DBCR), a unique work-study high school in Takoma Park.

During the lab, students learned about sources of renewable energy, grid-scale energy storage, and balancing supply & demand nationally, as well as the crucial engineering objective of maximizing energy efficiency and sustainability. Students also designed, built, tested, and analyzed their own hybrid wind/solar structure to light LED’s.

Through lab events like this one, Engineering Tomorrow hopes to inspire high school students across the nation to pursue career paths in engineering.
