Celebrating Earth Day: Building & Racing Electric Vehicles

April 25, 2025

In celebration of Earth Day, Engineering Tomorrow hosted a special lab event exploring the science and history of electric vehicles with guest speaker Telva McGruder, Executive Director of Global Body Manufacturing Engineering at General Motors.

During the lab, thousands of students across the country had the chance to build and race their own electric vehicles, putting their knowledge of the fundamentals of EV design and components into practice. Additionally, the event highlighted the role of engineering in creating a greener future and the need for more engineers in growing fields like EV technology.

In his recent story about the event, EV Charging Magazine’s Firas Navarro wrote, “Engineering Tomorrow’s special ‘lab day’ event is a fantastic initiative to engage young minds with the exciting world of electric vehicles and engineering. By providing hands-on experience and connecting students with inspiring professionals, this event is truly strengthening the future of the field.” Read the full story in EV Charging Magazine
