More than 100 students from various Bronx Catholic school participated in an engineering conference at Preston High School on Friay, November 15. Students at the conference, who currently attend St. Barnabas High School, Academy of Mount St. Ursula, Maria Regina High School and St. Raymond High School for Boys, took part in two breakout sessions about solar energy and phototherapy. During the ‘Solar’ session, students in attendance learned about the global need for renewable energy, while the ‘Phototherapy-BioMedical’ session, students learned about phototherapy and its application of specific light wavelengths to heighten immune systems to test certain medical conditions. In both workshops, students had the opportunity to build, design and test their models and later determined the effectiveness of their solutions.
