BEDFORD, NY — Fox Lane High School students made quite the showing at the 2022 Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF). The young scientists brought home honors in Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, Engineering, Physics & Astronomy, Medicine & Health Sciences, Behavioral and Social Sciences and Animal Sciences.
The fair serves area high school students who have conducted original research projects in Westchester, Putnam and Sullivan Counties and are interested in sharing their research, competing for awards and a chance to attend the Regeneron International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Atlanta, from May 7 - 13.
14 young scientists in the Science Research Program at Fox Lane High School won 17 awards this year.

3rd Place Awards were sponsored by the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation and winners received a medallion and $75.
4th Place Awards were sponsored by the Westchester Academy of Medicine and winners received a medallion and $50.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award certificates were given to projects whose research emphasize NOAA's mission of science, service and stewardship in climate, weather, oceans and coasts.
Ricoh Sustainable Development Award certificates were given for outstanding efforts in addressing issues of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Society for In Vitro Biology Award certificates were given to projects of 11th grade students with outstanding research in plant or animal in vitro biology or tissue culture.
U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize certificates were awarded to outstanding water science projects. Winners were also nominated to enter the state water prize competition.
Innovations in Biological Sciences Research Awards of $25 donated by WESEF Alumni were awarded to innovative projects in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, medicine and health, microbiology, computational biology/bioinformatics and neuroscience.
Excellence in Medical Research Award certificates and $25 donated by the Westchester Academy of Medicine were awarded to projects that improve our quality of life and make people healthier.
BASF Expanding Knowledge in Science Awards of $50 sponsored by BASF were given to students who exhibited excitement and an enthusiasm for discovery.
Momentive Solutions for a Sustainable World Awards of $50 donated by Momentive were given to outstanding projects in the categories of chemistry, biochemistry and engineering.
Momentive Women in Science awards of $100 donated by Momentive were awarded to top female students who demonstrate a promising future in science.
Today's Students, Tomorrow's Engineers Awards of $50 sponsored by Engineering Tomorrow were presented to students who exhibit the enthusiasm, desire and intellect to study engineering as evidenced by their project and presentation. They were deemed to have the aptitude to use their talents and gifts to engineer a better tomorrow.
Carl Zeiss Microscopy awards of $100 donated by Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC were given to outstanding projects that incorporate the use of a microscope.
