Job Title: Director of Development 
Organization: Engineering Tomorrow 
Location: Virtual/Remote (with occasional travelrelated to fundraising)
Reports to: Executive Director 
Salary: Competitive and Commensurate with experience 

About Us 
As threats like climate change, water scarcity and the depletion of naturalresources continue to evolve, engineers will be on the front lines of ensuring our planet remains a sustainable place to live. We need more students studying engineering,ready to enter the workforce at a critical moment in history. But an increase in numbers alone won’t be enough. We need a greater diversity of perspectives to ensure more informed decision-making. 

Engineering Tomorrow began in 2014 with two goals: increase engineering opportunities for female and low-income students, and address the national shortage of engineers to solve global challenges. Today, we are 501(c)3 public charity with a $10 million annual budget, offering no-cost, hands-on engineering labs and mentorship to high school students nationwide. In 2023-2024 alone, we enrolled 572,000+ students. This year we opened a 4,000 sq.ft. distribution center with plans to reach 1 million students in the 2024-2025 academic year. 

During this exciting time of growth, we seek to diversify funding, expand corporate partnerships, and develop a major donor pipeline. We are hiring our first Director of Development to lead these efforts. 

Position Overview 
The Director of Development will be responsible for creating and executing a fundraising strategy that diversifies the organization's funding beyond its current support. This role will focus on cultivating corporate sponsorships, partnerships, and building a major donor pipeline. The Director plays a key leadership role in ensuring that Engineering Tomorrow's work to inspire the next generation of engineers remains sustainable and impactful. 

Key Responsibilities 
• Develop and Implement Fundraising Strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive development plan focused on securing corporate sponsorships, cultivating partnerships, and establishing a major donor program. Innovate new revenue streams and fundraising tactics to diversify our portfolio. 
• Corporate Sponsorships and Partnerships: Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsors and partners that align with the organization’s mission. Build lasting relationships to increase corporate support. 
Major Donor Program: Develop a major donor pipeline by identifying, cultivating, and stewarding high-net-worth individuals who can support the organization’s long-term sustainability. 
• Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the Executive Director, Founder & Board Chair, and Board of Directors to align development goals with the organization’s strategic vision and engage the Board in fundraising efforts. Provide regularreports on fundraising progress. 

Additional Responsibilities 
• Grant Writing and Foundation Relations: Research and manage grant applications for foundation and corporate funding, ensuring compliance with funderrequirements. To include, but not limited to, State Government programs to support employment of underserved populations, National Science Foundation grants to bolster engineering capabilities and skills for the future (i.e., electric grid, AI, computer systems/data management). 
Donor Stewardship: Develop and implement a stewardship strategy to build strong, long-term relationships with key donors and partners. 
Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of donor and prospect interactions in Salesforce, track fundraising performance, and provide updates and analysis to leadership. 

Qualifications 
• Bachelor’s degree required. 
• 7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising. 
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to cultivate relationships with corporate partners, major donors, and foundations. 
• Proven track record of securing significant funding from diverse sources, including foundations, corporations, and government, as well as major gifts from individuals (including a range from $20,000 - $500,000+) 
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with the Executive Director, Founder & Board Chair, Board, and staff. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Strong project management and organizational skills. 
• Passion for the organizational mission. 

Preferred
• Fluent with financials, including creating and managing budgets,reviewing financial reports, and incorporating financial information, figures, and statistics into cases for support. 
• Strong technological proficiency, including experience with prospect research tools and fundraising databases, preferred familiarity with Salesforce. 
• Experience working at education or STEM nonprofits with similar missions orin a related field. 

Location 
Engineering Tomorrow is a fully remote organization day-to-day, however some fundraising meetings or program events willrequire occasional travel. 

Supervisory Responsibilities 
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
